A Question with many answers, but here are some of them...
It's a new alternative/goth festival designed to celebrate and unite all aspects of the alternative/goth scene in the UK. DV8 recognises that the goth subculture is made up of many different aspects, both within fashion and music, yet they all come together under the one banner of 'goth'. At DV8 the community can come together during the day to enjoy the City of York, and can then party the night away, enjoying the best bands from each part of the scene.
It's a chance to listen to the best music ; We are proud to have the biggest line-up of alternative/goth bands that the UK has seen at one event. With 45 bands performing across 3 venues across the city over the 3 days, you can pick and choose who you want to see and move between venues which are no more than 15 mins walk from one another. It's a place for you to shop and sel l; With alternative markets throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday, there is the chance for you to buy something new, from corsets and comics to boots and belts, as well as the chance to sell your own items at our bring and buy sale. York also has some great alternative shops for you to peruse at your leisure.
It's an opportunity to kick back and relax and be yourself; York is one of the most welcoming tourist cities in the UK, with a great variety of attractions from the gothic splendour of the Minster to the blood and guts of The Dungeon. There really is something for everyone whether you want to pack in all the attractions or just laze around in a pub (we have over 365), or by the river. We have worked with many local attractions to arrange discounts and will be putting on tours to help you get the most out of the city, but make sure you save something for next year.
It's what you want it to be ; DV8 is a festival for the goth community, shaped by the goth community. If you want something to happen then let us know and we will see what we can do. This is the first year of the festival and it is your chance to help shape one of the biggest events in the UK scene. If you wnat to organise a meet-up or even run your own event then please contact us and we shall see how we can help.
